White Wines of the World

2010 Gassier Cercius Blanc

This blend of 70% Grenache Blanc and 30% Sauvignon Blanc produces a delicious food wine with great acidity, minerality and enough texture and body to pair with a whole range of foods. Very aromatic with a nose of chalky lemon/lime zest and a hint of tangerine and gardenia.  Michel Gassier’s mantra is to make captivating wines that express the essence of their grapes and their terroirs that nourish them.  This wine definitely showcases that mantra. Perfect paring for seafood especially shellfish. Good texture and enough body to pair with richer cream sauce based pasta dishes and creamy cheeses.

Red Wines of the World

2009 Durigutti Malbec Classico

“Dark red. Laid-back, slightly rustic aromas of currant, chocolate, mocha and leather. Supple and suave but not overly concentrated, with good inner-mouth energy to the flavors of blackberry, chocolate and mint. A rather dry, classic malbec with a savory finish displaying fine tannins and a lingering chocolate note.” 89 points ST. This is a classic Malbec that works wonderfully with food, especially anything off the grill, or for the sweet tooth, dark chocolate!

2009 Four Vines Biker Zinfandel

From Zin Master, Christian Tietje, we have the Four Vines the Biker Zin from Paso Robles! Biker is sourced from the western Paso vineyards of Dusi and Preston resulting in lower yields thus, producing Zins of intense concentration.  A splash of Mouvedre lends an extra kick in the mid-palate. On the nose, the Biker is scented with aromas of anise, blackberries, savory spices and a hint of vanilla. Rich blackberries and darker fruits coat the mouth and develop into a lingering silky vanilla oak finish.  This is a massive Zin that deserves to stand on its own!

2005 Casina di Cornia Chianti Classico Riserva

Casina di Cornia has been certified “Bio” since 1983.  To obtain wines that bring out all the body and quality of the grapes, they interfere with the wine as little as possible. They do not use selected yeasts or other additional ingredients because the body and complexity of the wines is promoted more by the natural yeast populations on the grapes. Only at the end of malolactic fermentation is a small amount of sulphur dioxide added, always respecting the rules of organic farming. This Reserve is made with the best grapes from the Vigna LaCasina region of the vineyards. It is vinifed with maceration in concrete barrels for up to 30 days and then aged in barriques and 500 liter tonneaux for 12-18 months. After blending, the wine as left to age an additional 12 months before bottling. Aromas of spices - laurel and cinnamon, and a hint of balsamic wood. This is a perfect wine for red meat, game, and ripe cheeses.
