VALUE WINE – TARTANA TEMPRANILLO 2015

Catalunya, Italy 100% Tempranillo

Tempranillo is one of the major grapes grown in Spain and it is the major grape found in the well-known wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Its name means ”little early one” as it ripend much earlier than Garnacha, the grape it is most likely to be blended with. This is a great value Tempranillo, fermented and aged in stainless to preserve the freshness and vibrance of the wine. Tatrtana is bright cherry in color and on the nose there is lively red berry fruit with a subtle hint of spice. On the palate, it is medium bodied with bright red fruit, good acidity, and round tannins. Great with hard cheeses, sausages and light meats.

ECO WINE –  CANTINE INDIE VINO ROSSO AL POPOLO 2015

Piedmont, Italy 55% Nebiolo, 30%Barbera, 15%Dolcetto

This wine produced by Cantine Indie is a blend of Piedmont’s three major red grapes. Barbera brings the acidity and bright red fruit, Nebbiolo supplies the lovely aromatics and tannic support and the Dolcetto brings softness and roundness to the wine. The aromatics are of flowers and red fruit, and the medium-bodied palate is a fruity but complex flavor explosion of red berries and fruits. The wine sees no oak and is aged in stainless steel for 4-8 months to give it a fresh and vibrant character. Wonderful with veal, sausages and charcuterie boards.

WHITE WINE –DOMAINE MASSIAC VIOGNIER 2016

Languedoc, France 100% Viognier

Viognier is one of the most aromatic wines in all of France. Sitting in the heart of Minervois, this estate has a long history that dates back to the Roman Empire. Massiac offers a rewarding simplicity of approach to producing wines of character with a strong local identity. On the nose, this wine offers up aromas of orange blossom, white flowers, apricot, and melon. The palate is clean with flavors of honey and citrus with a nice mineral undertone. The finish is long and slightly effervescent. It pairs well with white meat, seafood, light salads and stands up to spicy Asian dishes.

RED WINE –SPARKPLUG BOURBON AGED RED BLEND 2014

Healdsburg, California 71% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Zinfandel

Produced by Chateau Diana, this blend is aged in bourbon barrels for 45 days. The wine is huge in all aspects. There are deep black fruit aromas with undertones of cigar box, cedar, and anise. The very lush flavors take the wine and bourbon on an adventure intertwined with blackberries, plums, and cassis. The bourbon lifts the boldness level up a notch depositing hint of char, smoke, and a caramel chewiness. Big, round and bossy! Great with barbequed anything …and great on its own.< p>

NEW WORLD WINE  –MY ESSENTIAL CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014

California, Cabernet, Sauvignon

Boulder based master sommelier Richard Betts is the founder and winemaker for this operation. This Cabernet shows aromas of black cherry, blackberry, fig and vanilla bean. There is a smooth mouthfeel with lots of juicy red and black fruits, baking spices and a hint of earth. The tannins are velvety, the acidity is lively and the finish long. Aged for 24 months in second use French oak. A well balanced and varietally correct wine that goes great with a steak.

OLD WORLD WINE –BANFI ROSSO DI MONTALCINO 2015

Tuscany, Italy 100% Sangiovese

Rosso di Montalcino is considered the younger sibling of Brunello. Usually, the same grapes are used for both but the aging is much less with the Rosso than the Brunello. Banfi’s Rosso is aged for 12 months in oak and 6 months in bottle before release. The nose is intense, fresh and fruity with typical varietal characteristics of violet, cherry, and plum.
