45% Zinfandel  40% Syrah  8% Petit Sirah   7% Cabernet Sauvignon
Made from grapes grown at relatively high elevations (up to 2400 feet) in Lake County.  This elevation allows for night time cooling winds and the volcanic rocky soil ensures small berry growth with concentrated flavors. The wine is deep garnet-ruby in color. On the nose there is ripe cherry, blackberry, raspberry and  rich vanilla oak. Flavors of blackberry pie, cinnamon spice and sweet vanilla highlight the complex velvety profile on the palate. Rich and elegant with soft tannins, nice balance and a lush lingering finish. Aged 14 months in oak, both French and American. Great on its own, or with BBQ.

Organically and biodynamically grown grapes only are used in the wines of this well established Mendocino Estate.  Aromas of bright cherry, red currant and raspberry are highlighted by notes of toasted oak and vanilla. On the palate there are flavors of cherry and currants with a bit of dried herb. The finish is lingering and soft. There is good structure with polished tannins and balanced acidity. Pair with red meats, sausage and wild game.

36% Viognier, 34% Grenache Blanc, 24% Sauvignon Blanc 6% Princess 
There are aromas of orange blossom and zest, jasmine, honey and sweet fennel on the nose of this fragrant wine. On the palate there are flavors of mango, white peach and apple. Each varietal is fermented separately and then blended. The wine is then aged on its lees for 4 months to give optimal flavor and creaminess. Just enough acidity to balance the fruit. Try with grilled mahi and mango salsa or with a citrus salad.

Claret is a British term for a Cabernet based Red Bordeaux wine, and the term was borrowed for this Meritage wine, which is the flagship wine of from Coppola. This is a very well made and rather complex wine that is one of the better examples of California’s attempt to mimic one of France’s most famous wine regions. On the nose there are aromas of cassis, espresso and plum. There are flavors of wild berries, plum and anise that are well supported by firm tannins and a balanced acidity. Pair this with your next grilled ribeye.

Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon


This wine from one of California’s most well known estates is approachable yet deceptively complex. There are aromas of dark blue fruits and spice with floral notes. On the palate there is blackberry fruit with notes of licorice, dried herbs and star anise, all balanced by a generous acidity. The finish is silky and lingering. It is aged 13 months in French oak, most of which is neutral.  This vintage was rated 90 points by Wine Spectator.  A quintessential California cabernet, it pairs well with grilled, braised and roasted red meats.

35% Garnacha, 20% Carinena, 20% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Although only being revitalized twenty or so years ago, the wiines from Spain’s Priorat region are becoming known for their unique blend of elegance and power and are amongst the most exciting produced in the country. This example from one of the region’s premier producer is no exception. On both the nose and the palate there is sweet almond, blackberry jam, fennel seed and gently toasted oak. The flavors are well integrated with generous yet ripe tannins and a perfect acidity ending in a long, elegant finish. Aged 14 months in French Oak. This is a delicious wine that pairs well with braised meats and wild game.
