VALUE WINE –

CHATEAU LAFONT-FOURCAT BORDEAUX ROUGE 2014

Bordeaux, France Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc

The property was purchased in 1993 by Paul Morrilan who was a well known consultant to many high end estates in the region. The estate consists of 19.8 acres of terraced vineyards sitting on clay limestone soil. There is a nose of red fruits and herbs. The wine is medium bodied with red fruit, herb and cassis cassis and a generous balancing acidity and a gentle tannic structure. Excellent value, great with red meats and pork.

ECO WINE –

LUZON VERDE 2015

Jumilla, Spain 100% Monastrell

Made from organically grown grapes. The poor soils and minimal rain in this region provide a natural resistance to pests and results in low yields and highly concentrated fruit. This results in a full throttle full bodied wine with lots of flavor. There is black pepper, ripe plums and a bit of smoke on the nose. The wine is full bodied and mouth filling on the palate, with blackberries and herbs. The is a balancing acidity and dry dusty tannins sneak in to add closing shape and grip. Excellent with braised short ribs, sausages and hearty pastas.

WHITE WINE

PRINCIPESSA GAVIA 2016

Gavi, Piedmont, Italy 100% Cortese

This estate is located in the Gavi region of Piedmont and is probably best known as the signature white grape of Piedmont. Made from only the Cortese grape, this wine is delicat dry and delicious. The rather intense nose show aromas of flowers, pineapple and peaches. The palate is well balanced between gentle acidity and citrus and peach nuances and the finish is dry. It is excellent as an aperitif and with hors d’oeuvres as well as a good match for seafood and poultry.

RED WINE- TONS DE DUORUM 2014

Douro, Portugal Touriga Franca, Touriga National, Tinto Roriz

When people think of the Duoro region of Portugal, most think of the sweet fortified Oportos but there some great dry wines
produced from the same grapes. Tons is ruby red with violet tones. The nose is dominated by aromas of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and prunes blending beautifully with spicy secondary aroma from barrel aging. Well balanced acidity, soft and ripe tannins support the ripe red fruit flavors with an underlying earthiness. The finish is quite persistant and dry. Excellent with game and red meats.

NEW WORLD WINE  – CLOS PEGASE CHARDONNAY MITSUKO'S VINEYARD 2014

Napa Valley/ Carneros, California 100%Chardonnay
Sourced from Mitsuko’s vineyard in Carneros this wine has intriguing aromas of ripe mango, Meyer lemon, Key lime, guava and
white flowers, all framed nicely in spicy toasty oak. A rich entry that is well balanced with a generous acidity leads to a broad mid
palate of pineapple, and pear with a generous finish. Aged in oak for 10 months. This wine is a great match for fresh crab or creamy
pasta Carbonara

OLD WORLD WINE

 –SALCIS CRIANZA 2010

Ribera del Duero, Spain 100% Tempranillo

Ribera del Duero and Rioja are the two main regions of Spain where Tempranillo is king. Unlike Rioja where other grapes such as Graciano, Garnacha or Cabernet might be blended into the wine, the wines from here tend to be 100% Tempranillo. There is less use of oak than in Rioja and the wines tend to be bolder and more fruit forward. The grapes for this wine are hand picked from vines over 50 years old. Maceration is for 30 days and then the wine is aged in oak for 12 months. The nose is of intense red fruit, vanilla and mineral. It is elegant and full bodies on the palate with rich flavors of red cherry and plum. Silky tannins give gentle support and good acidity makes for food friendliness. Try with game and hearty stews.
