  1. A. Margaine Demi-Sec NV

    A. Margaine Demi-Sec NV

The NV Demi-Sec Premier Cru is one of the very finest wines I tasted in its category. Margaine's Demi-Sec flows with generous white peaches, sweet spices and flowers as well as a rich, textured personality that is impossible not to admire. Despite its generosity, the signature Margaine focus is always in sight. The blend is the same as in the Brut Premier Cru, with dosage of 27 grams per liter. Disgorged June, 2010. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. This small estate is located in Villers-Marmery, on the easternmost reaches of the Montagne de Reims, an area dominated by the presence of red grapes. The particular clone of Chardonnay planted in these parts is believed to be especially perfumed. - 92 points, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate Learn More

  3. Bedrock Vineyard Heritage Red Sonoma Valley

Bedrock Vineyard Heritage Red Sonoma Valley

The grand poobah! The Bedrock Heritage Wine comes from vines planted 123 years ago at my family's vineyard in Sonoma Valley. It is a field-blend of 22 different varieties. Dominated by Zinfandel the remaining 40% of the wine is Carignane, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir de la Calmette, Syrah, Tempranillo, Trousseau, Mission, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and many others. Bedrock lies in the alluvial wash of the famed Monte Rosso Vineyard and is the only vineyard on the valley floor to share the same Red Hill Clay Loam soils that pour downward from the west slopes of Mount Veeder. 4. Betz Clos de Betz Bordeaux Blend

Betz Clos de Betz Bordeaux Blend

93 points David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, "Diversely-sourced - its Merlot blended with 35% Cabernet Sauvignon- the Betz 2010 Clos de Betz emphasizes black pepper, pungently resinous herbs, and arbor vitae, characteristics I imagine are in part a reflection of its 7% of Petit Verdot, that grape being demonstrably (I'm tempted to say notoriously ) efficacious. Cassis, huckleberry, and walnut offer bitter-edged but sappy fruit satisfaction; a crushed stone undertone adds a sense of intrigue; and mineral salts savory saliva-inducement in a gripping, palate-staining finish. This ought to be worth following for at least the better part of a decade. " Learn More

    Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve Champagne

This cuvee, with reflections of straw yellow, stands out by the finesse of its slowly rising bubbles and its persistent mousse. The aroma is a bit of maturity touched with floral freshness; it breathes ripe pears. The palate is powerful, followed by a fine freshness and a rich bouquet. Learn More

    Bollinger Brut Champagne Cuvee

94 points Wine Spectator! "A rich, smoky Champagne, with hints of marzipan and fennel seed accenting honeyed malt, bread dough, baked apple and gingersnap flavors. It's all focused by intense acidity, which meshes beautifully into the layers of flavor and refined texture, with a lingering finish. Drink now through 2021. 8,000 cases imported." -AN Learn More

  7. Cantine del Notaio Aglianico del Vulture La Firma

Cantine del Notaio Aglianico del Vulture La Firma

The name La Firma refers to the signature at the end of a notarial contract. La Firma is a D.O.C.* wine obtained from Aglianico del Vulture grapes. The grapes are harvested at the beginning of November. After a long maceration lasting some 25 days, the wine obtained is transferred to the aging cellar - a series of natural volcanic tufo grottoes - maturing in mainly first passage French oak barriques for some 12 months. La Firma is a wine of structure and long life, with aromas of black forest fruit, liquorice, fenugreek and carob. Its aromatic complexity ends on a sustained balsamic note, supported by soft and elegant tannins. Learn More

  8. Ch La Peyre St. Estephe "Cru Artisan"

Ch La Peyre St. Estephe "Cru Artisan"

Holy Cow! The layers and depth on this Cru Artisan Bordeaux are stunning!
The vineyards for the Saint Estephe of La Peyre are situated in the village of Leyssac in the same zone as that of Montrose and Haut-Marbuzet. There are a total of eight hectares of vines with an average age of 30 years (as of 2011). The soil is predominantly gravel with a mix of clay. The grape mix for the Saint Estephe is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks and then the wine is aged in small oak barrels (about one-third of which is new) for an additional 15 to 18 months before being bottled (without filtration).
To classify as Cru Artisan the estates must be family businesses that cultivate their own grapes, make, market and sell their own wines. The estates are small and tend to be around 6 hectares (14.8 acres) in size. Attaining Cru Artisan status is an explicit recognition of the wine maker's exceptional craftsmanship and passionate dedication to his land, vines and wines. Learn More

  9. Chateau Moulin de Tricot Margaux

    Chateau Moulin de Tricot Margaux

Château Moulin de Tricot is a tiny property established in the 19th Century by the ancestors of the current proprietor, Bruno Rey. Monsieur Rey and his wife, Pascale, tend the vineyards that are situated 30 km north of the city of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Margaux appellation. The Rey family owns just shy of five (5) hectares of vineyards on a gravelly "croupe" (outcropping) in the commune of Arsac. Of the five hectares, 3.7 hectares are within the Margaux appellation and 1.2 hectares are classified as Haut-Médoc. This small jewel of an estate produces a mere 15,000 bottles of Margaux per annum. Heavily dependent on Cabernet Sauvignon (at least three-fourths of the cuvée), this wine has a distinguished structure and complex flavors that beg for additional aging in the bottle. The elevage in barrel extends for eighteen months at which point the wine is bottled without filtration. Learn More
